Gerard Butler's court hearing has been postponed

Gerard Butler's hearing over a scuffle with a photographer has been postponed.

A Los Angeles Superior Court clerk said the actor's lawyer requested the delay on Wednesday, and a judge agreed to postpone the hearing to August 18.

The actor was charged with misdemeanor battery following the incident on October 7 after a premiere party for the film RocknRolla.

Gerard's manager, Alan Siegel, said the actor was forced to have his driver stop the car after the photographer repeatedly sped through red lights and almost struck two pedestrians.

Gerard, who stars in this summer's The Ugly Truth, faces up to six months in jail if convicted.
