Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds have "amazing chemistry" in The Proposal, the film's director has said.

Anne Fletcher said the success of the romantic comedy - which sees Sandra as a work-mad boss and Ryan as her dutiful assistant - is down to the great onscreen match-up, adding she hopes it does as well in the UK as in America, where it was No 1 at the box office.

"They are unbelievably talented, they are amazingly connected on screen, their chemistry is amazing and they are a joy to work with," she said.

She continued: "I mean they're really hard workers and great people so at the end of the day I would do a million more movies with them, I think they're pretty awesome."

Anne added: "I just only hope that we do equally as well here and that people really love and respond to the movie and I hope they do.

"It's a feel good movie, it should make you laugh, and make you feel real emotion, and real funny and a bunch of great performances so hopefully people will go and see it."

The Proposal opens on Wednesday July 22.
