Robert De Niro says Meet The Parents fans will have to judge for themselves if the third movie is the best of the lot.

The actor surprised reporters by taking time out to chat about shooting Ben Stiller's Little Fockers at Bafta LA's Britannia Awards in Hollywood, where he was being honoured.

"I don't know if I can say it's the best one, that's for the audience to decide - but we're having fun," he said.

He added: "Is it the greatest movie ever? I hope so, we're having fun doing it."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jurassic Park star Laura Dern has joined the cast for the third instalment which follows the trials and tribulations of Greg Focker (Stiller) as he attempts to raise twins with his wife.

Laura is set to play the headmistress at the kids' school, while De Niro returns as the controlling father-in-law.

"The kids are great," Robert added. "We're still just beginning, we're only into a few weeks."
